Birds of Madras Christian College
Birds of MCC

The Madras Christian College campus is situated amidst more than 325 acres of scrub Jungle, a part of the Selaiyur forest in Tambaram. My journey as an assistant professor in the Department of Visual Communication began in June 2014. My primary teaching area and passion revolve around photography, a field that knows no bounds when it comes to exploring different genres.

The MCC Campus provided me with the opportunity to discover various birds and animals within its confines. The diverse climatic conditions fostered the growth of different types of trees, plants, shrubs, and insects. Throughout the campus, one can observe an array of flower colors, fragrances, and fruits, which serve as a major food source for various birds. Additionally, the campus features a lake that serves as a water source.

Over the past Nine years, I have personally recorded sightings of over 100 plus different bird species during various times. It's been a remarkable experience witnessing the vibrant life thriving within this environment.

In documenting birds, I've utilized different cameras: the Canon 5D Mark II with a 100-400mm lens, the Lumix GH5 with a 100-400mm lens, and currently, I am using the Lumix S5 body paired with a Sigma 150-600mm lens combo.

I'd like to express my gratitude to Panasonic Lumix India for recognizing me as their brand influencer in the wildlife category and for extending their unwavering support in various ways. I want to specifically thank Pradyuth, the State Sales Head, Prabhu, the Technical Head, and Thulasi for their constant support. Additionally, my appreciation extends to Raghu Gowda, the National Trainer, Hardeep Singh, the Head of Lumix India, and the entire national sales team led by Sarthek.

Their support has been invaluable in my journey and has significantly contributed to my ability to capture and document the diverse birdlife within the MCC Campus and beyond.
