Birds Season in Vedanthangal bird Sanctuary 


Vedanthangal bird sanctuary is situated 75 km away from chennai, it takes max 2 hours to reach via car or bike.

Entry fee is collected  for everyone and also for your DSLR cameras before you get in. well constructed path welcomes you to walk and view the birds in the marsh , watch tower & view points helps you with good view to watch the birds.

Birds found here are Painted Stork, Asian Open Bill stork, Pelicans, Spoonbills, Grey heron, glosssy ibis, black headed Ibis,  night heron,  Spotted Owlet, Bats, little Grebe, common coot, moorhen, Fluvous Whistling Duck, Northen Shovllers,  commorants, etc . most of them here are migratory birds, the visit here for breeding and raising their chicks.

Mid of November to end of February would be a nice time to visit and see most of the birds.

There is a gallery near ticket counter where you can visit and know about many  birds. Back-lit  photo frames gives you a good look of the birds in close.

If you are going with camera make sure you take a binocular with you, in case if you do not have it don't worry there shops outside which rent you binoculars with a nominal fee.
